Anyone who wants to replace NOx and particulate sensors on exhaust systems often has a problem: contamination or thread residues often remain in the flange thread, and must be removed before the replacement goes ahead. A new special tool is now available from KS Tools in Heusenstamm, Germany, specifically for this purpose. The new tap has been specially developed for recutting rusted and damaged probe threads, thus making the replacement convenient and safe. The tap set with guide bolt for sensors is now available from KS Tools under part number 150.2540.
„If the corresponding flange threads aren‘t recut properly when replacing NOX or particulate sensors, there is a risk that the new sensor will be inserted crooked,“ says KS Tools. „Thread residues from the old sensor and any contamination must be removed without leaving residues before replacement.“
Positioning the sensor straight
This is precisely why the tool specialist has developed the new tap. In this way, workshop professionals can avoid positioning the new sensor crooked or failing to screw it in far enough. In that case, the system would no longer be leak-tight, and the sensor could no longer produce correctly measured values.
The tap set with guide bolt for sensors has six cutting edges, meaning that the sensor can be ideally centred later. It has a particularly short design for optimum handling even in confined spaces.
With strong external hexagon drive
The tap has an external hexagon drive, allowing the effort applied by the mechanic to be transmitted effectively. It is made of special tool steel and is therefore particularly sturdy. In addition, the tap is coated with a special new type of hard material, which makes it even more durable and resistant to any corrosion.
The two-piece tap set with guide bolt for sensors has the product number 150.2540 at KS Tools. The set contains the sizes M20 x 1.5 and M22 x 1.5. If taps are required for sensors of other sizes, supplementary tools from KS Tools can be used. Available sizes are M12 x 1.25 with product number 150.2541, M14 x 1.5 with product number 150.2542 and M18 x 1.5 with product number 150.2543.
