Lasts longer
Socket with steel ring – robust and gentle
- Chrome molybdenum steel socket with steel ring
- Patented world first
- Lasts longer despite being gentle due to plastic cladding
Tool specialist KS Tools based in Heusenstamm, Hessen, have a new socket set in their product range. The sockets are characterised by their particularly long service life. This is made possible by means of a steel ring fitted tight onto the socket which makes it especially hard-wearing. The entire socket body is clad in plastic to protect delicate wheel rims. The new sockets last up to five times longer than conventional tools.
„Enormous forces are exerted on a plain socket“, says the KS Tools project management. That‘s because modern impact drivers are many times more powerful than was possible a few years previously.“ That becomes noticeable with just such a tool as the socket which, particularly during the seasonal tyre change, is in use virtually non-stop.
The new sockets from KS Tools are fundamentally longer-lasting than the previously normal tools of this kind. The head of the socket is encased in a special metal ring which prevents the head from breaking apart. „Conventional sockets crack easily“, continues the KS Tools project management. „This can even cause injuries if the casing is damaged and sharp edges develop.“ The new sockets from KS Tools last up to approximately five times longer at a load of 500 Nm for 5 seconds than hitherto widespread tools. The nominal load with changing tyres, for example, is considerably lower than this value however, so the socket should have an even more significantly longer life in day-to-day use. The steel ring supports the nut insert area as this is subjected to the greatest stress. It is thus effectively counters an opening up of the wrench profile. This means that the material is not as severely strained and lasts considerably longer. Besides this the ring ensures that the socket itself is not immediately rendered unusable with a broken wrench profile but can continue in use until replaced with a new one.
„Although our sockets are in any case made from chrome molybdenum steel – an extremely hard-wearing material – we go one further“, says the KS Tools project management confidently. „They fulfil the highest demands on longevity and are a good investment for motor vehicle professionals.“
The sockets stand up to even the highest stresses which are the order of the day with ever more powerful impact drivers. The sockets are available singly or as a set in sizes 17, 19 and 21 mm. The sizes are colour coded. The sets are supplied in a robust plastic case.
